Digicel Transforms Telecommunications with Kong

Digicel, a leading telecommunications provider across the Caribbean, Latin America and Oceania, needed to digitally transform its French West Indies operations by moving from a VPN/ESB monolithic stack to a microservices architecture to support a fully digital mobile service. To meet that challenge the team evaluated and selected Kong, deploying Kong Enterprise as an on‑prem API gateway to support domain‑driven design, routing, and enterprise integrations.

Kong implemented a centralized API gateway using Kong Enterprise with authentication, logging, metrics, correlation and transformation plugins, enabling one microservice to decouple the business domain and resolve prior connectivity issues. The result was a successful launch of a fully digital mobile service, faster time to market, reduced latency and improved stability, eliminated redundant developer work (saving hours), and expansion of Kong across additional web services as Digicel migrates from CRM/ESB to microservices.
