Australia Post Delivers a Streamlined Platform Onboarding Experience With Kong Konnect

Australia Post, Australia’s government-owned postal service, needed to modernize its API platform to reduce friction for developers and enforce consistent security practices. The organization faced 5–10 day developer onboarding times, siloed API consumption that created duplicate work, and a requirement for industry-standard authentication and authorization. To address this, Australia Post selected Kong Konnect as a lightweight, scalable API gateway and service connectivity platform.

Kong implemented an automated configuration layer, an extensible plugin architecture, and out-of-the-box OAuth2/OpenID Connect support, and linked Kong to Australia Post’s developer portal to improve API discoverability and reusability. As a result, Kong helped cut onboarding from 5–10 days to just a few hours, now secures about 100 APIs (with the ecosystem expected to exceed 150), improved cross-cloud deployment flexibility, reduced operational overhead, and accelerated development velocity.
