Case Study: ScottishPower achieves rapid analytics, improved CRM and an expanded payment network with Kognitio WX2

A Kognitio Case Study

Preview of the Scottish Power Case Study

Kognitio WX2 delivers for ScottishPower

ScottishPower, a major UK utilities supplier facing fierce competition after market liberalization, needed to transform its customer relationship marketing (CRM) to grow as a multi-utility provider. The company also had to close a chain of 70 retail stores while ensuring customers could still pay bills and buy pre-paid tokens, requiring fast, detailed analysis of millions of customer records to identify preferred touchpoints and design personalized offers.

ScottishPower implemented Kognitio WX2 to load mainframe data and scan millions of rows in seconds, enabling deep customer segmentation and rapid “train-of-thought” analysis. The insights supported a replacement network of almost 200 payment locations, 600 token retail outlets, 16 service centers and 140 Midland Bank branches as pay points, allowed store closures without harming service, and empowered product managers to create targeted single- and multi-utility packages that improve customer value and profitability.
