Aintree University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust digitizes 45 million pages with Kodak Alaris

Aintree University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust faced the challenge of managing millions of patient records created by its huge volume of annual patients. Isolated scanners in various departments were insufficient, so the trust needed an integrated, trust-wide solution for universal digital access. This led them to implement an EDMS system from CCube Solutions, supported by Kodak Alaris scanners and software.

The solution included a custom-built portal for clinicians to access digital case notes. Kodak Alaris i4000 and i5000 Series Scanners were chosen to handle the massive workload of scanning an estimated 45 million pages. The results were significant, including the repurposing of an entire floor for clinical use instead of records storage, labor savings, and the elimination of paper storage costs. Most importantly, the digitization ensured crucial patient information was automatically delivered to the point of care, improving the clinical experience.
