How First Community Credit Union Reduced Phishing Risk by 97%

First Community Credit Union (FCCU), a Houston-based banking and finance institution, needed to build a mature security awareness program to address the human element as the highest natural attack vector in a high-risk industry. To tackle this, FCCU has relied on KnowBe4’s Security Awareness Training and AI-driven capabilities (including AIDA) since 2014 to train staff, track progress, and identify individual training opportunities.

KnowBe4 implemented simulated phishing, targeted training groups, and AI-powered defenses (KnowBe4 AIDA, Defend™, and Protect™ with Microsoft 365) to surface threats, coach users, and monitor outbound email risk. As a result, First Community Credit Union cut its Phish‑prone™ Percentage from 30% to 1% (a 97% reduction), achieved training completion rates in the high 90s across 270+ employees, and continues to use KnowBe4’s tools to drive measurable, ongoing improvement.
