Bridgewater State University Raises Cybersecurity Awareness And Reduces Phishing Vulnerabilities With KnowBe4

Bridgewater State University, the largest public university in Massachusetts with more than 8,000 students and staff, faced a heavy and growing wave of spam and phishing that left the community vulnerable and without a coordinated training platform. Tina Rebello, an information security analyst on BSU’s ResNet team, partnered with KnowBe4 and adopted their Security Awareness Training and Student Edition to educate students, faculty, and staff on social engineering threats.

KnowBe4 implemented simulated phishing campaigns and personalized training modules (including student-focused content) and made cybersecurity training mandatory for new hires. As a result, BSU’s Phish-prone™ Percentage fell from 15% to 4%, security awareness among the campus community improved, and conversations about phishing became a routine part of campus life — demonstrating measurable reduction in risk and a stronger security culture.
