Modena Local Public Health Authority worked to build a data-driven healthcare environment, but its existing setup made it difficult to identify reliable data sources, ensure cleanliness and consistency, and produce trustworthy reports. Different people were often preparing data separately, leading to inconsistent results and fragmented information for strategic management and planning. KNOWAGE was brought in to support the authority’s business intelligence and clinical data warehouse initiative.

KNOWAGE was implemented above the second-level layers of the new DWH architecture, using its Behavioral Model to control user access and its SI and PM modules to quickly create standard performance and production-monitoring reports. The solution also enabled fast data linkage and statistical analysis of health and administrative data, delivering centralized and standardized data management, repeatable analyses, and more readable, drill-down reporting. As a result, Modena Local Public Health Authority reduced information dispersion and wasted effort while improving safe access to data and supporting more advanced analyses for value-based healthcare, equity, and population health management.
