Sparkasse KölnBonn, the largest municipal savings bank in Germany, wanted to improve the success of its product campaigns. Its existing expert-based recommendation approach was generating campaign success rates of around 1% or less, so even small improvements could have a major impact on revenue. To tackle this challenge, the bank turned to KNIME and its low-code, no-code analytics platform.

Using KNIME, Sparkasse KölnBonn built and deployed machine learning models for product recommendations, allowing teams from different backgrounds to collaborate on the same environment without heavy coding. The bank replaced its experience-based recommendation process with algorithm-based targeting and saw campaign performance improve by 50% to 200%, while also speeding up experimentation and making results easier to explain to stakeholders.
