How Pure Romance redesigned their data architecture, saving 1000s of hours per month

Pure Romance, a global direct sales company, struggled with a data architecture that had evolved around financial reporting and buried business logic inside the database and ETL. This made internal analysts and external consultants dependent on the data team for reports and changes, while also limiting advanced analytics and creating performance issues across reporting systems. After evaluating options, the company chose KNIME to better support its Tableau and PowerBI reporting environment.

KNIME helped Pure Romance move business logic out of the database and into analyst-driven workflows, creating a more flexible Kimball-style data model and reducing the data team’s bottleneck. Using KNIME, Pure Romance also built custom publishing workflows and improved scheduling across its reporting tools. As a result, end-to-end data load time dropped from three hours to about one and a half hours, saving thousands of hours per month and freeing the data team to focus on more strategic work.
