A KNIME Case Study
Telekom Deutschland GmbH’s B2C controlling team faced a labor-intensive month-end closing process, with controllers spending significant time collecting data from multiple sources and manually analyzing deviations in monthly reports. The process was slow and prone to errors, making it difficult to get quick access to meaningful figures during peak reporting periods. They turned to KNIME Analytics Platform to help automate parts of the reporting and commentary workflow.
KNIME implemented a three-step workflow that reads and consolidates data from SAP BW and other sources, calculates deviations and relevant comparison figures, and automatically generates basic report comments for review and elaboration by controllers. The solution reduced manual effort, produced commented reports at the click of a button, and was developed by a small team in just three months without needing upfront IT investment. KNIME’s workflow is now in production for Telekom Deutschland’s private customer business, with plans to scale it to sales performance deviation analysis as well.
