How Knack helped El Camino College manage a complex training program and increase state funding

El Camino College’s Center for Customized Training partners with the California Employment Training Panel (ETP) to deliver no‑cost workforce training across the state, but managing hundreds of courses, employers, and participants had become unwieldy — spread across spreadsheets and a legacy TrackPoint desktop system. When Microsoft ended support for that system, the college needed a cloud‑based, easy‑to‑use replacement that would avoid migration hiccups and minimize end‑user training.

They built a central Knack app to replace the desktop database, giving anytime/anywhere access, streamlined workflows, and a single source of truth with import/export and reporting capabilities. The result: dramatically faster data entry and validation, robust tracking of ETP metrics (attendance, wages, 90‑day retention), a 95% program performance level versus peers in the 60s–80s, and a doubling of ETP program state funding share as the solution scaled and was adopted by other colleges.
