Personalizing a Dashboard for 200 Users

Empirical Path, a digital analytics consulting firm and Klipfolio partner, was hired by a major consumer publisher to deliver individualized dashboard views for 200 affiliated content providers. The challenge was to present each contributor with a filtered Klipfolio dashboard showing only their engagement KPIs (page views by device, demographics, top categories, etc.) using data from Google Analytics and the client’s Microsoft Azure database.

Empirical Path implemented Google Tag Manager, customized Google Analytics, defined and prioritized seven key KPIs, and designed wireframes and spec sheets. They enabled user-level filtering in Klipfolio with a simple Google Sheet login-to-dimension mapping, performed QA testing against raw GA data, and provided user training. The result: 200 personalized, easy-to-manage dashboards that streamlined analytics administration and gave contributors accurate, self-serve KPI reporting to support faster, data-driven decisions.
