Smile Starters Provides Affordable Pediatric Dental Coverage to Underserved Kids

Smile Starters, a nine-location pediatric dental practice in North Carolina, wanted to make affordable care available to underserved children and young adults who did not qualify for government assistance or have employer-sponsored insurance. Their initial sliding-fee approach was too cumbersome, time-consuming, and uncomfortable for families, so they looked for a simpler, more respectful alternative.

Smile Starters chose Kleer to design and launch a customized membership plan for pediatric care, including discounted preventive and additional procedures plus monthly payment options. With Kleer’s platform and support, the practice made enrollment easy and low-touch, and in the first four months 276 patients joined, generating $70,656 in recurring subscription revenue. That pace equates to an annual run rate of 828 new members and $212,000 in recurring revenue, while also improving loyalty, hygiene visits, and treatment acceptance.
