Íslandsbanki, a leader in financial services in Iceland, sought to become a model of exemplary operations and a positive force in society based on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria. Their challenge was to gain a comprehensive overview of all their ESG factors to support this goal and their sustainability policy. To meet this need, they implemented the Klappir Sustainability Platform.

The solution from Klappir provided the bank with the necessary data and measurements for its sustainability statements. As a result, Íslandsbanki achieved an 11% reduction in comparable greenhouse gas emissions and a 44% reduction in emissions from waste, largely due to increasing its recycling rate from 59% to 70%. The Klappir platform assists the bank both in its daily operations and in working toward its long-term vision, including its goal of full carbon neutrality by 2040.
