Global building components supply company replaces Dropbox and FTP for increased security and control and faster performance

MiTek Industries, a Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary and leading global supplier of engineered building-component products and design software, faced growing collaboration and security challenges as software updates, large DVD-sized builds, and customer databases were exchanged via FTP and employee workarounds like Dropbox. The company needed tighter access controls, reliable mobile support, and a solution that could handle large files (typically ~4GB) while keeping sensitive data under MiTek’s control.

MiTek deployed Accellion inside its SAN, giving IT full control over storage, access privileges, SSO, and integration with its CMS while supporting iOS/Android and large file transfers. The result: faster, more secure sharing and review for developers, sales reps, and customers (including remote users on slow connections), simplified disaster recovery and device lockdown/remote wipe, and broad user adoption across the organization.
