San Francisco civil engineering firm goes keyless to enhance security

Sherwood Design Engineers, a San Francisco civil engineering firm, needed a keyless access control solution to protect its semi-public and private spaces in a busy urban location. With concerns about unwanted walk-ins, street crime, and the lack of a lockdown option, the company also needed a way for off-site staff to remotely manage building access. Sherwood Design Engineers chose Kisi, using Kisi Readers and Controllers to support mobile access and visitor management.

Kisi enabled Sherwood Design Engineers to secure 14 entry points across the perimeter, IT room, elevator, and tenant areas, while setting different access levels for executives, staff, guests, and vendors. By integrating Kisi with the alarm system, the company also allowed safe use of emergency exits without triggering alarms and enabled site-wide lockdown with one button, even remotely. With only two IT people managing the system through a cloud dashboard, Sherwood gained centralized control, historical access logs, and more efficient security operations.
