The York School, a co-ed IB World School in Toronto serving 675 students, faced a rising volume of applicants and wanted deeper, more holistic information than grades and test scores could provide. To address this, The York School partnered with Kira Talent to add timed video and timed written assessments (Kira assessments) to their admissions process — one of the first private K–12 schools in Canada to adopt this approach — so admissions can better gauge applicants’ potential and motivation.

Kira Talent’s timed video and written assessments let the school virtually meet applicants before they visit campus, giving admissions and teachers richer context on students’ motivations and backgrounds. As a result, The York School gains earlier, actionable insights that inform admissions decisions and let teachers design customized learning experiences for incoming classes, aligning with the school’s mission to prepare global citizens.
