The University of Vermont OT builds state-of-the-art program with an admissions process to match

The University of Vermont Occupational Therapy launched its new Occupational Therapy Doctorate program in 2022 and needed an admissions process that could help it attract and evaluate strong applicants while remaining accessible. Working with Kira Talent, the program sought a modern alternative to traditional in-person interviews that would better support a new, small program outside a major transit hub.

Kira Talent implemented an asynchronous assessment for University of Vermont Occupational Therapy, combining timed video and written responses to give the team deeper insight into candidates and a more authentic view of communication skills and fit. The solution helped the small admissions team manage more applicants, engage a wider pool, and make more informed decisions; in the first cohort, it even helped identify some candidates who were just below GPA thresholds but proved to be excellent fits, while others with high GPAs were not.
