Queen’s Psychiatry eliminates cost barriers through seamless transition to virtual MMI

Queen’s University’s School of Medicine, specifically its Psychiatry Residency Program, needed a way to move its Multiple Mini Interviews (MMIs) online while reducing travel costs, environmental impact, and the risk of a clunky applicant experience. The team also wanted a virtual process that could still reflect the warmth of the program and provide strong support for admissions staff, which led them to Kira Talent and its Live Interviewing platform.

Kira Talent implemented a seamless virtual MMI and Asynchronous Assessment workflow, complete with custom competency-based rubrics, improved questions, and expert onboarding support. The result was a smooth transition online with no IT issues, better applicant evaluation, and the ability to interview more candidates per day. Queen’s also reported a more objective, holistic admissions process and strong applicant feedback, including praise for the quality of the questions and the overall interview experience.
