How DMU is building a future-proofed admissions process

Des Moines University (DMU), a long-established medical and health sciences university building a new state-of-the-art campus, needed to future-proof its admissions process—especially when the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted in-person interviews. DMU engaged Kira Talent in 2018 to add Kira’s Asynchronous Assessment (initially for its Doctorate of Physical Therapy program) and then expanded the approach across programs to create a scalable, engaging, and bias-mitigating admissions workflow.

Kira Talent implemented its Asynchronous Assessment alongside an optional live group interview and provided hands-on support to make the transition quick and seamless. As a result, DMU reduced travel costs for applicants, maintained authentic reviewer impressions comparable to in-person interviews, saw strong positive feedback from applicants and faculty, and established a stable, efficient process that aligns with DMU’s long-term, technology-forward admissions goals.
