A Kira Talent Case Study
The University of Lethbridge’s Faculty of Education faced a high-volume, high-stakes admissions process for its counseling programs, with 400–600 applicants competing for just 40 seats. Reliance on live interviews created heavy scheduling demands for faculty and raised concerns about bias, fairness, and consistency in decision-making, prompting the team to look for a more scalable and equitable approach with Kira Talent.
Kira Talent implemented an asynchronous video assessment as the final stage of admissions, scored by two faculty reviewers and supported by reporting tools to spot scoring differences and calibrate reviewers. The change reduced scheduling stress, improved accessibility for applicants from rural and First Nations communities, and helped create a more transparent holistic review process. Early results showed a more diverse applicant pool, a slight increase in Indigenous admits, and a successful pilot that led to a three-year renewal with Kira Talent.
