Kipwise implemented a solution centered on a defined "closeout contract" with five specific outcome groups, shifting the focus from activities to verified results. The Kipwise system was used to gather evidence, identify mismatches, and coordinate handoffs, but explicit approval was always left with human verifiers. This ensured a clean transfer into normal operations, with all unfinished work assigned to permanent owners and all access decisions made deliberately, ultimately preventing gaps from being hidden behind a completion percentage.
