A Kineo Case Study
Kineo, a City & Guilds Group business, designed a 45‑minute bespoke elearning programme for Whizz‑Kidz to supplement face‑to‑face training for physically disabled young people aged 13–19. The challenge was to create engaging content from scratch that reflected the lived experiences of this audience, requiring a subject‑matter expert and close co‑design with the young people to shape three modules: Dealing with your feelings, Food and fitness, and Relationships.
Kineo delivered story‑driven modules that modelled real conversations through SMS, video diaries and social media, added self‑directed activity pages, used peer role‑model films and youth‑friendly language, and built accessibility into the design. Learner and stakeholder feedback was strongly positive, leading to improvements (e.g., audio/subtitles) and enthusiastic sign‑off from Whizz‑Kidz; the project went on to win the Bronze Award for Best Not for Profit Elearning Project at the 2012 Elearning Awards.
