Case Study: Vodafone Hutchison Australia doubles course completions and drives learner ownership with Kineo

A Kineo Case Study

Preview of the Vodafone Hutchison Australia Case Study

Vodafone Australia uses social and gamification to give learners ownership of their learning

Vodafone Australia partnered with Kineo to overhaul its Learning Management System and move learning from a “push” model (L&D enrolling employees) to a “pull” model where employees take ownership. The challenge was to create a central, multi‑device platform that empowers staff to find and prioritise relevant learning, boost participation and capability, and increase engagement—particularly in retail—to reduce churn.

Kineo delivered a staged, agile solution built around learner profiles, personalised learning pathways and a searchable course catalogue, underpinned by social and gamification features (likes, badges, follows, points, ratings and a “What’s Happening” timeline). The results: course completions more than doubled in 2014 versus 2013, learners embraced social features, over 4,000 badges have been awarded, and the platform has won industry awards including eLearning Association of Victoria (2015) and LearnX Platinum (2017).
