A Kineo Case Study
Mitchells & Butlers, the UK hospitality group behind more than 1,700 pubs, restaurants and bars and 46,000 employees, needed a single, engaging learning destination that made colleagues feel part of the wider group. Their legacy LMS and standalone courses weren’t pulling learners in, so they challenged Kineo to build a mobile-first, socially driven platform that blended social learning with bite-sized, performance‑support resources and a unifying brand identity.
Kineo and Totara delivered MABLE — a one‑stop learning environment powered by Totara Social and Totara Learn, personified by a playful mascot to drive engagement and reinforced with audience rules, badges and forums. The results were dramatic: 89% compliance, 20,000+ logins in month one, 434,389 course completions in year one, a 5% rise in food quality after digitised menu training, reduced business disruption from safety incidents, over 370 million points awarded and strong social uptake (2,000+ forum members, 2,276 posts). The platform shifted culture, increased voluntary learning and created measurable cost and performance benefits.
