Case Study: League Football Education achieves engaging, flexible functional-skills learning with Kineo's award-winning 'Fit for the Future' elearning

League Football Education - Customer Case Study

League Football Education, working with Kineo and Sportiv8, developed "Fit for the Future" — a set of reusable elearning modules on Functional Skills aimed at apprentices and 14–19 learners, including those disengaged from traditional classrooms. The challenge was to create broadly applicable content that anyone with basic IT skills could adapt, while also engaging a short-attention, “digital goldfish” generation who need immediately compelling, relevant learning experiences.

The team solved this by embedding core theory in a story-based London 2012 Olympic framework—teen athletes living and training together—so contexts and characters can be easily swapped to suit different centres. All text is XML-driven and freely packaged for easy editing; the approach garnered excellent learner feedback, an Inspire Mark accreditation and a Bronze award for Not-for-Profit learning content at the eLearning Awards 2011, while addressing a major shortfall in functional skills resources.
