Compass Group, a £1.8bn services business serving clients like M&S, Wimbledon and Tesco, needed to improve its financial performance systems training — traditionally delivered in costly classroom sessions — while overcoming internal scepticism about e‑learning. The brief was to create a just‑in‑time, relevant solution that made systems training engaging and practical for Regional Managers who must investigate trends and solve performance mysteries.
Kineo developed a gamified “Compass Detective Board Game” e‑learning experience that cast managers as detectives solving realistic scenarios, embedding systems training into the narrative with supporting characters and contextual guidance. In six months 1,500 staff completed the module, learners reported improved motivation and expected behavior change, and Compass estimates cost savings of approximately £495,000 versus traditional classroom delivery.
