City & Guilds Kineo helps Great Ormond Street’s GET FIT initiative with open source LMS and free elearning

City & Guilds Kineo partnered pro bono with Great Ormond Street Hospital’s Children First for Health team to support GET FIT, a campaign aimed at helping 11–16 year‑olds achieve the UK government’s target of one hour of daily physical activity. The challenge was to engage a demanding, media‑savvy young audience and change attitudes and behaviour around exercise.

Kineo ran user research and developed short, focused elearning modules hosted on a customised Moodle open‑source LMS, including celebrity‑led content, an “Educate me” section and an interactive “Me and my time” activity diary, later expanded with teacher resources. The site saw immediate interest (a promotional video gained over 6,000 YouTube views in the first week), aligned with the national curriculum and Healthy Schools programme, and received positive feedback for its potential to help young people meet exercise goals.
