California Academy of Sciences educates their network of after-school program leaders with Science Action Club

The California Academy of Sciences’ Science Action Club (SAC) is a nationwide out‑of‑school STEM program that needed to scale leadership training and ensure consistent messaging and resources for activity leaders. As the program expanded, in‑person workshops became impractical and educators required accessible, standardized materials and best‑practice guidance to lead outdoor, citizen‑science activities effectively.

Partnering with Kineo, SAC developed a blended online training built in Adapt for novice and experienced educators, streamlining navigation, embedding focused videos, and organizing modules like "Lead with Confidence." The training improved leader preparedness and engagement, helped SAC grow from a few local clubs to hundreds across 400+ cities, and delivered a 99% increase in satisfaction and engagement while boosting youth interest and participation in STEM.
