Case Study: Energy Institute achieves global safety behaviour change with Kineo’s bite-sized animations

Bitesize safety animations for the Energy Institute

The Energy Institute (EI) is a chartered professional body that gathers and shares expertise to improve safety and practice across the global energy sector. To bring real incident lessons to life for a multi‑device, multilingual workforce, EI commissioned Kineo to produce short (2–3 minute) animations for its Toolbox app that clearly show what happened, why it happened, and the key learnings frontline workers must apply.

Kineo delivered authentic, emotionally engaging animations that rely on visual storytelling (split screens, freeze frames, ambient sounds) rather than narration, and finish with reflective questions to drive behaviour change. The films were integrated into Toolbox with positive client feedback, are being rolled out via an active communications campaign, and are freely available on toolbox.energyinst.org alongside 320+ real-incident lessons as the platform expands.
