How Both Hands Used Kindful to Increase One Day Donations By 538%

Both Hands, a Nashville-based adoption assistance nonprofit founded in 2008, helps families fundraise for adoptions while serving widows in their community. Facing the challenge of significantly increasing revenue for The Big Payback—a 24-hour online giving event where they raised $7,200 the year before—communications manager Jared DeLong sought a better strategy and tools to reach more donors and boost participation.

Using Kindful as a central data hub, Both Hands implemented a matching gift, segmented donors into targeted groups, and ran a timed email campaign (pre-event, during prize windows, and last-chance reminders), tracking opens and sending personalized follow-ups. The result: over $46,000 raised (a 538% increase), donors tripled from 30 to 90 with an average gift above $200, 15% of donations came from new donors, and online giving overall tripled.
