MSD (known as Merck & Co., Inc. in the US and Canada) is a 125-year‑old global pharmaceuticals company operating across 100+ markets, multiple hubs, distribution centers and manufacturing sites. Facing long lead times, high inventory and fragmented planning typical of the industry, MSD needed to standardize its ERP landscape, break down silos and achieve end‑to‑end supply chain visibility so it could make faster, more informed decisions and improve service and cost outcomes.

MSD selected Kinaxis RapidResponse to enable concurrent, in‑memory planning across demand, supply, DRP and S&OP, using algorithms for rough‑cut capacity, attribute‑based and multi‑level expiry planning plus scenario modeling and segmentation. Early results include global visibility of finished‑goods inventory, exception‑based min/max planning, implemented replenishment strategies, a governance structure, a successful proof‑of‑concept, training for 600+ people and education for 3,000+, with a multi‑year rollout underway.
