Comprehensive Supply Chain Visibility Across a Multi-Enterprise Supply Chain

Agilent Technologies, a leading test & measurement company, runs a high‑mix, low‑volume, configure‑to‑order business that relies heavily on contract manufacturers (CMs). That multi‑enterprise sourcing model created gaps in visibility and long information latency—CM planning lives outside Agilent’s ERP and data flowed by file transfers—making it hard to synchronize commits, manage buy‑sell loops, and respond quickly to volatile demand and complex product configurations.

Agilent implemented Kinaxis RapidResponse to create a vertically integrated MRP that models CM planning behavior and consolidates data into a single common view for planning, simulation and exception management. The solution eliminated much of the latency, enabled fast supply/demand scenario analysis, and improved decision speed and customer responsiveness—reducing large order assessment and commit cycles from 3–14 days to about 1–2 days—while ongoing model tuning and governance continue to expand CM management and constrained‑scenario capabilities.
