Celestica, a global electronics and complex mechanical contract manufacturer, faced the challenge of managing excess inventory for its numerous customers. They sought to transform this excess into value by generating optimal product build plans, moving beyond manual Excel processes. They turned to Kinaxis and its Maestro™ platform, specifically its Supply Optimization solution, to address this challenge.
Kinaxis implemented Maestro's could-be-built functionality, which automated the analysis of excess components to propose build plans for maximum revenue. The solution evolved to also incorporate current supply and a budget for strategic new purchases. This allowed Celestica to change customer conversations from cost negotiations to revenue opportunities. Results were significant, with initial pilots generating $250,000 per customer, rising to over $400,000 when combining excess and current supply. Kinaxis's tool identified a potential $30-40 million in additional customer value and helped mitigate an average of 10% of excess and obsolete inventory per customer.
