Celestica, a global contract manufacturer for electronics and complex mechanical products, needed a better way to manage excess inventory without simply charging customers for it or letting valuable components go unused. Using Kinaxis Maestro, Celestica aimed to turn excess and obsolete stock into revenue by finding the best build plans from on-hand inventory.
Kinaxis implemented Maestro’s Supply Optimization solution to generate optimal build options using customers’ excess components, replacing manual Excel-based analysis. The result was over $250,000 in average value per customer from repurposed excess inventory, over $400,000 in average value per customer when excess on-hand and current supply were combined, and an estimated $30–40 million in additional customer value potential, with about 10% excess and obsolete mitigation per customer.
