School District of University City improves classroom coaching with KickUp, reaching 82% of teachers demonstrating core commitments

The School District of University City faced a challenge with instructional inconsistency, using fifteen different observation tools that created conflicting feedback for teachers and no shared definition of good instruction. To address this, they partnered with the vendor KickUp to implement its Coaching & Walks service to bring alignment to their processes.

KickUp's solution enabled the district to consolidate its framework into 21 "Learning Core Commitments" and use a single, shared observation form within the platform. This allowed walkthrough data, coaching cycles, and professional development to be automatically aligned around the same indicators. Using KickUp, the district achieved its goal with 82% of teachers demonstrating 80% of the commitments, logged over 200 coaching cycles, and successfully shifted instructional leadership from the central office to building-level principals and coaches.
