MBNA wanted to increase app downloads for its new MBNA Card Services App, which launched in September 2016 for iPhone, iPad, and Android phone and tablet devices. The company worked with Kickdynamic to use device targeting in email so it could send tailored messages to customers based on the device they used.

Kickdynamic deployed a campaign with device-targeted images, including a device-specific animated gif and a device-specific call to action that showed the correct app store button for each opening device. Android users were linked to Google Play, while iPhone and iPad users were sent to the App Store. MBNA said the campaign met or achieved all of its targets and became the top trending app in the App Store during the email campaign period.
