Case Study: Betty Best Elementary achieves Met Standard and reduces office referrals with Kickboard

A Kickboard Case Study

Preview of the Betty Best Elementary Case Study

With CHAMPS™ and Kickboard, Best Elementary in Houston, TX celebrates state accountability success

Betty Best Elementary, a high-poverty, high-mobility PreK–4 Title I school in Alief ISD, struggled with an Improvement Required state rating, limited behavior data, and rising office referrals that disrupted instruction. To support its CHAMPS™ PBIS implementation and gain real-time insight into student behavior, the school adopted Kickboard’s school culture system to collect, analyze, and share behavior data.

Using Kickboard daily alongside CHAMPS™ and the STOIC framework, teachers tracked positive behaviors, awarded “Bulldog Bucks,” monitored positivity ratios, and used data in PLCs to target interventions and coaching. With Kickboard’s tools, Betty Best Elementary cut office referrals by 25%, earned a Met Standard state rating for the first time in five years, and posted significant, double-digit gains across TEA performance indices and STAAR outcomes.
