A Kickboard Case Study
TechBoston Academy’s Crossroads program, a special education unit for students with primary social or emotional disabilities, struggled with a paper-based behavior tracking system—Excel spreadsheets, lost or incomplete files, and time-consuming parent communications. To address these challenges they adopted Kickboard in fall 2013 to replace paper charts and spreadsheets and centralize behavioral data collection and reporting.
Using Kickboard daily, teachers log behaviors in real time, use dashboards and leaderboards to track progress, and share visual reports with students and families. Kickboard delivered measurable impact: one-click access to leaderboards saves at least 45 minutes per week, staff gain real-time visibility into student performance and intervention effects, student motivation and communication with families improved, and educators can more easily identify students needing intensive support.
