Lowery Elementary Improves Student Behavior & School Performance

Lowery Elementary School, a rural Title I turnaround school in Ascension Public Schools, faced years of failing performance and received an “F” school grade in 2013; student behavior was identified as a key barrier to learning. To support its behavioral RTI and PBIS efforts, the school adopted Kickboard’s behavior-management and data platform in fall 2013.

By implementing Kickboard schoolwide, staff gained real-time behavior data, consistent classroom practices, and tools for earlier Tier 2 interventions and positive reinforcement. Kickboard’s solution helped Lowery reduce behavioral infractions by 29%, raise its School Performance Score by 5.5 points (from 46.5 to 52) and move from an F to a D, while students in grades 3–5 showed gains on state assessments and teacher retention improved.
