Case Study: Kindezi West achieves higher academic scores and a positive school culture with Kickboard

A Kickboard Case Study

Preview of the Kindezi West Case Study

How one Atlanta school increased academic scores by focusing on Kickboard culture data

Kindezi West, a K–8 public charter school in Atlanta, faced rising off-task and disruptive behaviors as enrollment grew and did not have an efficient system to track or analyze behavior. Principal Penn partnered with Kickboard and adopted the Kickboard platform to build a data-driven PBIS program, set consistent schoolwide behavior expectations, and win teacher buy-in.

Kickboard provided reporting tools, weekly PD for data analysis, and supported incentives and targeted interventions (e.g., surprise “Turn Ups” and a Tier II “Peace Posse”), enabling staff to pinpoint behavior hot spots and respond with SEL and RTI supports. As a result, Kindezi West reduced referrals, secured funding for SEL/RTI, and saw a clear correlation between culture and achievement: classrooms with 85–99% positivity ratios corresponded to Student Growth Percentiles of 59–82 and 69–100% of students meeting growth targets (for example, 99% positivity → SGP 82 and 100% meeting growth). Kickboard’s data-driven approach sustained a more positive, higher-performing school culture.
