Case Study: Public Prep reduces suspensions by 40% with Kickboard

A Kickboard Case Study

Preview of the Public Prep School Case Study

How a Bronx District Reduced Suspensons by 40%

Public Prep School, a Bronx network of five schools serving about 2,000 students, faced inconsistent responses to behavior across campuses and no unified way to capture social-emotional and behavior data, which produced uneven family and student experiences and high suspension rates. To address this, leaders selected the Kickboard platform to standardize behavior tracking, family communication, and district-wide reporting alongside a unified Code of Conduct and interventions.

Using Kickboard as the district’s “catch-all” for SEL and behavior data, Public Prep implemented daily Kickboard data entry, positive behavior tracking, family notifications, data dialogs, initial behavior intervention plans, and SEL supports. Kickboard enabled consistent, data-driven decision making and greater family engagement; as a result, suspensions fell 40% (from 215 to 130 across the five schools in one year) and the network now has shared behavioral baselines and clearer, measurable processes.
