MSC Industrial Supply Co., a leading North American distributor of maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) and metalworking products, needed to simplify product findability and make it easier for customers to discover and buy the right items. Their goal was to deliver personalized recommendations based on browsing and purchase behavior and use their MRO expertise to guide buyers to the most relevant products.

Working with Kibo Personalization (powered by Monetate and Certona), MSC deployed recommendation widgets on high‑visibility pages—category, listing, product detail, cart and Add‑to‑Cart modal—using similar items, cross‑sells, upsells and recently purchased products. The feed-driven engine reduced merchandising effort and surfaced relevant alternatives and re‑orders, driving a 46% increase in items per order, a 12% lift in average order value and a 38% boost in conversion rate.
