Solus Décor, a Vancouver-based designer and manufacturer of hand-cast concrete fireplace mantels, tiles and fire pits, had outgrown a homegrown CRM as it scaled from a small custom shop to a made-to-order manufacturer. The company needed a scalable system to capture vast, detailed production data (batching, mix recipes, custom forms, casting, curing, finishing, packing and shipping) and to integrate sales, production and accounting, so they engaged KiBiz Systems and evaluated the KiBiz System built on FileMaker Server/FileMaker Pro as a foundation.

KiBiz Systems customized the KiBiz System to mirror Solus’s multi-step production process, enable scheduling and real-time tracking of every piece, and batch jobs by ingredients to maximize manufacturing efficiency. The implementation replaced a paper-based workflow with an integrated CRM/production/accounting solution, delivered significant time savings and improved production throughput, and allowed Solus to manage hundreds of unique projects (about 500 projects in 2008) with much greater speed and organization.
