Youngstown State University Upgrades EE Teaching and Research Labs

Youngstown State University (YSU), Ohio’s STEM-focused university, needed to modernize its Electrical Engineering labs to produce a next‑generation microelectronics workforce while balancing budget and remote‑access requirements. After evaluating options, YSU selected Keysight and its test-and-measurement product lineup—including InfiniiVision and EXR‑Series oscilloscopes, 34465A DMMs, 33622A waveform generators, E36312A power supplies, E4980B VNA, N9000B CXA signal analyzer, and Keysight PathWave Lab Operations (PW9112EDU)—to deliver accurate instrumentation, remote functionality, and expert support.

Keysight implemented ten new lab stations plus RF and analysis equipment and deployed PathWave Lab Operations for remote scheduling and instrument access. Installed in time for the fall 2021 semester, the Keysight solution gave students industry‑relevant hands‑on experience, made labs scalable for in‑person or remote learning, increased faculty confidence in recorded data and troubleshooting, and expanded access to students beyond the local area—enabling YSU to offer advanced microelectronics labs and better prepare graduates for digital design roles.
