Case Study: University of Leeds achieves breakthroughs in terahertz research and produces industry‑ready engineers with Keysight

A Keysight Case Study

Preview of the University of Leeds Case Study

The University of Leeds Showcases Two Engineering Research Labs

The University of Leeds, a leading electronic and electrical engineering school with more than 700 staff and 3,000 students, sought to advance high‑frequency and terahertz electronics research (up to 20 THz) and ensure graduates were industry‑ready while supporting its robotics programs. To address these challenges the university partnered with Keysight, deploying Keysight PNA‑X network analyzers and taking part in the Keysight RF & Microwave Industry‑Ready Student Certification Program.

Keysight supplied lab‑grade instruments, software and training—enabling measurements to 1.1 THz and integration with PathWave design tools and PSG signal generators—which directly supported research in healthcare sensing, satellite communications, material identification and robotic inspection. The Keysight partnership has produced measurable impact: world‑class research labs, stronger industry collaborations, and graduates with validated RF/microwave measurement and design skills who are highly marketable to industry.
