Textron Systems has Developed Improved ATE Systems Using the N6700 Modular Power System

Textron Systems, a leading developer of smart munitions, sensors and surveillance systems, needed compact, high‑performance ATE solutions to support multiple programs — including precise pulsed current measurements for battery‑drain testing, a space‑constrained multi‑DUT vibration chamber, and a Sensor Fuzed Weapon IR sensor that required fail‑safe timing. To meet these challenges they selected the Keysight N6700 Modular Power System as their DC power and measurement platform.

Keysight’s N6700 delivered built‑in digitizing (up to 50,000 readings/sec into a 4,096‑point buffer) to capture 12 ms transmit pulses, LIST mode (up to 512 setpoints with 1 ms–262 s dwell) and trigger‑out for hardware timing, and a 1U modular form factor that saved 4U of rack space in the SFW ATE. By using Keysight N6700 units Textron Systems avoided custom circuitry and long integration efforts, sped development with simple commands, protected IR sensors from PC hang‑ups, enabled shared spare modules across systems, and positioned their ATE for higher throughput and lower overall cost.
