Service Provider Maximizes Visibility in Mobile Networks

U.S. Based Telecom Service Provider, a Tier‑1 operator with 100+ million subscribers, needed better visibility into its mobile network to launch services and prevent churn. The operator struggled to correlate high‑volume GTP session data across radio access and core without overloading monitoring probes or requiring multiple SPAN ports; probes were spending ~50% of CPU/memory on session correlation, driving up CAPEX and increasing MTTR. Keysight (via Ixia solutions such as the Vision 7300 Network Tool Optimizer and the GTP Session Controller 7433) was evaluated in a proof of concept to address these issues.

Keysight implemented the Vision 7300 (NTO 7300) with Flow Distribution Module and GTP Session Controller (7433) to filter and route the right traffic to tools, load‑balance GTP flows, and offload session correlation from probes while enabling packet capture/analysis. The deployment reduced probe load by 30–40%, cut CAPEX by up to 50% by avoiding additional probes, lowered MTTR, and provided a scalable model where adding GSCs — rather than probes — handles growth.
