A Keysight Case Study
US Telecom Company, a Midwest-based service provider, faced the challenge of migrating its physical IMS to a virtual IMS (vIMS) while maintaining or improving customer QoE—especially VoLTE and HD video call quality—and lowering costly lab validation. The company engaged Keysight (Ixia) and used IxLoad and IxLoad VE virtual testing tools to move realistic Layer 4–7 testing from the lab into a pre-deployment production environment and integrate tests into its CI/CD pipeline.
Keysight implemented large-scale VNF and service-function chaining tests, realistic subscriber emulation (up to 10,000 simultaneous calls), and detailed CPU/memory capacity planning to validate the vIMS. The outcome included 3–5× cost savings on production-scale lab setup, $5M in infrastructure savings in 18 months, a 20% reduction in voice latency, and a $10M revenue impact from monetizing services three months earlier—while speeding rollouts and improving overall QoE.
