A Keysight Case Study
Eridan Communications, a fabless developer of 5G devices and firmware, faced the challenge of creating an ultra‑efficient, wideband transceiver that could deliver handset or metro‑cell power across the UHF/cellular/Wi‑Fi bands, support any modulation type, and transfer more data in the same bandwidth while exceeding 50% power efficiency. To accelerate design and characterization, Eridan relied on Keysight tools—specifically EEsof EDA Advanced Design System (ADS) and 89600 VSA software.
Using Keysight’s ADS (including harmonic balance and circuit envelope elements) for GaN‑based switched‑mode transmitter simulation and 89600 VSA for vector signal analysis, Eridan developed the MIRACLE SM3 transceiver. The Keysight‑enabled solution achieved 3GPP‑compliant LTE performance with ACLR of 47–52 dB at ~50% efficiency, produced a 14‑bits/symbol 16K QAM signal with SNR >40 dB and EVM <0.5%, and delivered more than double the data capacity of standard signals (about 75% higher than projected 8 bps/Hz designs).
